Exciting News - Polar Music Prize - Patti Smith and The Kronos Quartet!!!

This is the post I put on my facebook page. It describes everything. :)

'can officially officially confirm that I, Jenny Soep, will be drawing Patti Smith and the Kronos Quartet at this year's Polar Music Prize. The drawings will be done during their talks, then made into prints to give to those attending the banquet the day after - this includes the Laureates themselves, the glitteratti of the music/entertainment/arts industry in Sweden, oh, and the Swedish Royal Family :D'

Also, my exhibition on Monday - come come! It's also going to be rather exciting since I will be 'test-drawing' a new arty iPad app that is soon to be launched all things going well. I've already tried it, and it has some beautiful qualities - I can't wait to try it out at the expo opening, and hopefully will have one of my favourite bands doing a spot so that I can do a drawing performance with a projector and screen no less!! It's all happening at the Arches this coming Monday between 6-8pm. Drop in for a glass of wine and an inspired peruse, would be lovely to see you there. :)

Exquisite, bustling, quiet, beautiful, frenetic, joyous, a call to arms and to hope, a call of the wild, of nature, of seasons to show that the world still turns, life exists and will survive. A peacock tail of sun rays in a period of economic gloom. En masse, the little man can turn things around.

What a show, really, seriously. The unique sounds, imagination, atmosphere and sense of play from the multi-talented Jónsi and friends. The award winning UK based 'Fifty Nine Productions' is the team behind the amazing special effects and stage design. It really is something special, and will make any gig you can make, one to remember. Shows are indeed selling out though, so really you need to act fast or check on reliable ticket reselling sites. They do exist - a friend of mine got tickets to the November London show for face value. And that show my friends, will definitely be something to talk about.

So this picture, is phase one. My first impression. As you can tell, I noticed a lot. Keep your eyes peeled for the 2nd picture I do at the Brighton Dome next Tuesday.

Drawing the Experience - Updates of the Pictures done

The Sorren MacLean Band - Headliners - The place was bouncing!

Martin Hay, aka The Yellow Bentines, doing all the multiple parts he does so well - Champion! (I was a bit bemused when he turned up without all his trumpet players, drummer, guitarists - you've never seen a 'one man band' quite like it!)

This was a quick sketch I did of the Loverly Lemmings who made it all the way up the next day to my 'Open Mic/Open Draw' event which was also WAY better than anticipated - don't know why I was so nervous! But, for all those out there who didn't make it, it rocked!! You'll just have to come next time!

Drawing Time

Just to report - have received and banked the lovely cheques from, you'll never guess, 'Persevere Records' from the Proclaimers who are printing my images that I drew of them back in June, on their t-shirts and other merchandise - Pretty cool huh?! Who fancies strutting their stuff in an original Jenny Soep/Proclaimers t-shirt??!! Don't know when they'll be ready to purchase, but should be before the year is out - could make a nice Xmas pressie?!!

Exhibition madness at the moment. Going to be a MAD couple of weeks. Thankfully Kim, my wonderful sister is the event organiser - she's just graduated from RSAMD with flying colours, great national press review, and great recommendations. She's a fully qualified Theatre designer and Stage Manager, but is moving into more Art based events/exhibitions. She's more than capable of managing this expo, but for the mere fact that she's trying to organise ME, and she's really being put to the test.

She definitely deserves a holiday after this one!!

Deadline is October 8th to be put on the guest list. It's set to be a great night with Popup, The Yellow Bentines and the Sorren MacLean Band playing, a Top DJ, live drawing performances by yours truly, and animator/VJ Garry Whitton strutting his stuff too. Will definitely be a night to remember. It's right next to a campsite too so bring a tent or there's a big list of accomodation providers who are offering discounted prices to Exhibition goers. So book your place now to avoid missing out on this Unique Multimedia Art Extravaganza!!! Woohoo!
